4.5 decades - aligning my life story to the Chakra's

Thank you everyone for your birthday wishes yesterday as I turned 4.5 decades, but what is that anyway - age is just a number!

Getting to this stage of my life has been quite a journey. With each day, week & month that goes by, I feel like I still have so much to experience & learn; the journey is still young.

Recently I’ve been mapping the 7 main chakras (energy points in our bodies) to the different stages of our life. Where I am now, the crown chakra symbolising wisdom is in its development stage so I’m eagerly anticipating a divine download of wisdom with open arms - this could take some time but fortunately I’ve learned to be patient.

If I look back to when I was half my age, 22.5 years old, my solar plexus chakra symbolising strength and confidence was fully developed. At the age of 22.5, I was about to leave for Japan to begin my stint as an English teacher. I thought I was the King of the World. Suddenly traveling to live in another country. My ego went into overdrive and I bought myself a suit bag so I could look the part as I travelled through the airport, wheeling a trolley bag in one hand and a suit bag slung over my other shoulder. But I wasn’t as international executive I was just a 22.5 year old boy - barely an adult - about to go to Japan to teach English… to primary school children!!

Once I realised I wasn’t the King of the World and my ego calmed down, it was time for other chakras to start developing. Notably the throat chakra which represents communication in my early 30’s. Confident in my communication, one weekend in February 2011, I told Maria that we’re taking a trip. She had no idea where we were going and I managed to keep it a secret all the way to the departure lounge. A few hours later I was kneeling in front of her with the Eiffel Tower behind us. This period in my 30’s is when I really started to make strides in my career - thanks to communication - and also when we became entrepreneurs to establish our business Olive Branch.

On a personal level the third eye chakra is the most personal to me. Representing intuition, it is one I connect with the most. We often hear the phrase “listen to your gut” - this is telling us to follow our instinct, follow our intuition. It enters its stage of development between the ages of 36-42. Right in the middle of this, when I was 39, was when my Dad left this universe. This crushed me, shattering all my chakras right down to my root chakra - the very first chakra which represents our grounding - since it was my Dad that gave me so much throughout my life to teach me to be “who” I am, not the “who” I think I should be. When all the chakras get shattered, it breaks down your life and everyday becomes a struggle; but I was fortunate that my intuition came to rescue me… in 2021 at the age of 41.5, I began my yoga journey and with patience and belief, I was able to rebuild my life, letting my intuition guide me.

These 4.5 decades have given me so much and taught me so much. They say that life begins at 50. Well, the crown chakra of wisdom continues developing until 49, so there is still hope for this divine download of wisdom!
