Blocks are our Friends

Blocks are our friends in Yoga. They are such a great tool for creating space in our body so we can breathe into this space and make a beautiful mind body connection.
Why is this mind-body connection so important?
Our brain controls our thoughts, feelings and movements. We often store our feelings in our body whilst our movement is through our body. It is the nerves in our body which control our feelings and our movements. Our nerves are attached to our spinal cord and this spinal cord is the conduit between our mind and our body.
In order for us to feel free with our thoughts and feelings (and not weighed down by them), we need to create space in our body so our breath can connect and flow freely through this space around our nerves.
This is where blocks can really elevate our practice. By supporting us in the right way we can avoid compressing our body, instead opening up the space correctly. Through this our bodies expand and when our body expands so too does our mind. The connection to the mind (through the spinal cord) allows us to feel space in our mind. Clarity of thought, feeling unburdened by external pressures, a greater sense of purpose, and so much more…
